DSB LEAGUE
Length
One of the many things wrong with DSB is 12 vs 12 league. League ran from October to June, which is way too long. No one wants to be married to league, and have a second wife. League had to be shorter and more direct. If we adopted a four month league best of 3 system then league would end with people wanting more, not people feeling sick to their stomach like they are currently. Its as if DSB was saying 12 vs 12 league is all this zone has to offer and thats why its so long. That is not the case however. DSB needs to be a zone that offers more. With a shorter league DSB could focus on 4vs4 league, sector league, and even RC racing.Length
Eligibility
Even still there is more that has diminished 12 vs 12 league. The eligibility rules are a big problem in DSB. If I recruit a new player into a league squad that new player has to wait 14 days to be able to play. This is not only bad for the squad its also bad for the new player. While people who switch squads should wait 14 days to be eligible to curb squad hopping, new players to the league should have been granted game time right away. Every change to staff or to the league site should have been made to make this possible.League Site
Other issues that effect 12 vs 12 league is the old League.nu Website. The site was made in 2000, and it was last updated in 2007. Its an out dated site, and the updates have been far and too few. What has been a major cause of destroying 12 vs 12 league is the league.nu format which requires players to constantly sign up again each year. We need a real league site where you only sign up once, and your player profile exists forever, unless you delete it and create a new one. The new league site should incorporate all our league stats as well. Currently we have a separate site made by frankllr which does this. This separation of stats from the actual league site only serves to disinterest people, and league.nu itself encourages smurfing. It is also very easy to mess up your profile creation on league.nu. That chance is further increased with having to sign up every year. I get into further detail of these problems in my DSB BLOG under league eligibility failures.Sector League
Sector league is also a problem in DSB. Sector league never had a chance to get off the ground because staff is still keeping the practice arenas up. No one will play sector league when its easier to play a practice instead. Seeing as they are virtually the same thing but one you have to register for and the other you dont. Practice arenas should have been taken offline and Sector League would have taken over as the new form of Sector gameplay.
From there we could have used Sector League as a way to determine which squads make PRO league for 12vs12 and which squad make Intermediate league for 12vs12. At the end of sector league all sector league squads would then enter 12 vs 12 league, and their positions and rankings would have been pre determined by their standings and stats in sector league. From there 12 vs 12 could have been like a final CUP league short and sweet and very respectable.
DSB PUB
Obviously there have also been many ideas to improve PUB. The reason is because PUB is the part of the zone that attracts new players to the zone. All if not most of these ideas have been shot down. There have been theme weekend ideas like mine. Which involve changing the map as part of a weekend theme for 3 days. My idea was to turn DSB east tube into a real trench, and allow the rebels to blow up the deathstar. In my map only 5% of the deathstar was changed. The sectors all remained intact. A bot was even made by the_snake, greenish, entropy, and weasal. Everything is ready but hoch still didnt allow this idea to flourish as a temporary zone theme. DSB has many theme weekends, why was this idea rejected so harshly by Hoch? Yet it was embraced by all of Dev team?
