Hoch at his best

Hoch announces he will shut down the zone, and after a good percentage of the zone had left, he changed his mind. Effectively speeding up the population decrease ten fold. After Hoch changes his mind about closing the zone he makes promises about improvement pub, yet no improvements have been made at all.

Other than a few short, token appearances once a week for a few minutes at best. Hoch doesn't play subspace anymore, and as a result he has no idea how to improve the public arena. Anyone who plays computer games knows that every game needs a goal, a purpose, and a method to win that requires some level of skill. A needless game that requires nothing more than flying around aimlessly flagging or killing is tedious and boring. Hoch is so completely disconnected from the zone that he doesn't realize this.

There are countless brilliant ideas coming out on the forum, and yet Hoch does nothing to support them or even create discussion about them.

There have been no events in DSB for over 6 months. No Turret theme weekend, that would literally take five minutes to prepare and upload. Nothing, pub has remained the same with no goals, you just enter and flag, and kill mindlessly.

Fly swatter and Morihkan another example of people trying to help the zone, have programmed bots, maps, and types of game play that would make pub 10 times more fun. Yet 6 months later and their finished work still hasn't been uploaded. Fly swatter is one of the only people who program bots for DSB, and yet Hoch doesn't give him any access. Another example of personal preference over helping the zone.

Staff does not provide equal opportunity recruiting methods in DSB, for simple positions like league ref (1 hour on a Sunday) or Development team. Instead their recruiting methods border on Mafia, personal preference, prejudice and whatever else you want to call it. Equal opportunity would mean they accept you into staff, like a low level Dev or ref position, and if you break a rule they punish you accordingly and remove your position. Then they ACTUALLY have a reason to say you can't help. Instead they hate their own player demographic and treat us like criminals. They will never get anyone to help with the zone. There is a major shortage of Refs and Development team. Everyone was either fired wrongfully, quit, doesn't want to work with Hoch or beer hunter, or just can't help because staff won't accept their help out of pride.

One part of staff like say Greenish, accepts people in Dev team and ER positions, and to help with the zone, but the other part of staff discriminates and boycotts those people and does not involve them in any projects.

With regards DSB League, Hoch has trusted an incompetent staffer to co-ordinate league for several years, Beer hunter, who has consistently failed to deliver any of the desperately needed changes, and has allowed league to decline year on year. Why did Hoch do nothing about this, despite a majority of players stating how bad Beer Hunter is? Because Hoch is disconnected from the zone, he doesn't play the zone, he doesn't know what is going on.

A theme map was recently tested in pub. The map was a downgrade, but rather than my opinion, let the population graphs for the last month tell you the result of it. The decline through January left the zone on it's knees. There was 2v2 in pub at peak times. They finally took the map down and put the original one up, and that evening we had 14v14 in pub again.

One of the reasons this map was a downgrade was the tile-set used. Hoch claims he wants the new map to feel like the old one, so that people accept it more yet they upload it with completely different tiles, they go from a tile set that has 60 different tiles, to a Generic tile-set that has only 20 tiles. This is obviously a downgrade. Nobody likes the new tiles they are using.

They uploaded this theme map and Hoch told everyone it is just a project that Dakrn is working on. When asked if the map would be considered for Pub or League Hoch said he has no idea what we are talking about, and it's just a theme. This theme despite being unfinished was left in DSB pub for one month. This is a reoccurring trend with DSB staff and theme weekends. They call it a theme weekend - you know 3 to 5 days maximum, or basically to be uploaded in pub over the weekend. DSB staff seems to think theme weekends involve every weekend of the month including weekdays.

Given this horrible reaction to the theme map, would it surprise you that they are considering this map for the next DSB League? Well unfortunately they are. They have tested it several times already in mock-matches, and if they finally decide to use it in league, it will probably end the zone. It's something that is so incredibly stupid, but it's not beyond staff... they are testing it afterall (they're not testing any other map). We simply cannot let them kill the zone through such mindless incompetence.

The league coordinator asked months ago for feedback on what would make a good league, stating that he personally would like to see 9v9. Nearly everyone who responded on the forum said they would like 6v6 or 7v7 for a league. It was announced recently that 9v9 will be tried. He completely ignored the feedback.

This imminent league, that could destroy the zone due to 9v9 game-play on a map that is proven terrible, has taken the staff months to get ready. However, the theme map they want to use was built months ago, and 9v9 was apparently chosen by Beer Hunter months ago too. So what have they done? The answer sadly is nothing.

Random abuse, threats, and blackmail from Hoch and other DSB staff. Only cheaters deserve bans, DSB staff has no ability to deal with people or make friends and no desire. In fact their methods of dealing with people also serves to destroy the zone.
